CAIS长春美国国际学校 昨天

On November 22nd, K2 students made special “houses” in school and created an interesting International House Presentation.

1122日,K2学生带着他们的房子来到学校,为所有CAIS师生带来一场不一样的国际房屋展示大会

While studying the Unit of “Where we are in place and time”, K2 students investigated different countries’ houses.

在刚刚结束的单元我们身处什么时空中,K2学生们探究了世界不同地域,不同人群居住的房屋。

“To be an active learner”—K2 teachers invited the parents to school and shared their countries’ traditional houses. All the students had to ask the parents questions and collect the answers. After asking questions, students separated into teams to investigate in houses from different countries.

 “做主动汲取知识的学习者”—K2教师邀请不同国家的家长们带来他们国家的房子信息展示给孩子们,所有学生必须向访问的家长提问,带着答案,学生们被分组代表不同国家继续探究。

 


After this investigation, K2 students had an opportunity to go to the Northeast Folk Museum and to visit the house of a classmate in Changchun. With the understanding of each countries’ culture and houses, they started to think and reflect on similarities and differences. 

在观察不同国家房屋后,K2学生们前往东北民俗博物馆和一所真正的房子参观访问,带着对不同国家文化和房屋的认识,他们开始用自己的眼睛观察他们的联系与区别。 

Last but not least, students started to think about the structure of their own houses, and finally made the house by themselves. Every student wrote down their reflections, through drawings and it could be seen they gained a lot from it.

最后,一个个模型在孩子们的脑中构筑,于是他们开始搭建自己所代表国家的房屋并写下了他们的反思记录。虽然内容全是孩子们的绘画形式但是能看出他们的收获很多。

我想拥有一套砖房,因为砖房真的可以防雨。

3.  Now, I learnt about houses, different people have different houses.

通过学习,我知道了不同国家的人都住在什么样的房子里。


In IB PYP teaching, this kind of education happens everyday. We encourage students to be active learners, meet their curiosity, explore their abilities on Concept through connection and contrast. For our teachers, they are more like a guide in this learning journey. After repeating of this kind of practice, what kind of ability can our children develop?
