There are 182 school days in the Academic Calendar(2010-2011). This exceeds the number of hours expected in IBO standard classes.
The dates: under revision
FLEX days mean that these days may be used as:
- Make-Up Days for Snow Days, or unforeseen reasons that the school cannot remain open.
- Instructor Work Days or Professional Days in relation to student needs or becoming an IBO World School;
- Seminar Days for IBO High Level Classes; Mother Tongue; Areas of Interaction, Learner Profile; Community, Action, Service; or Special Needs involving certain groups of students and teachers, but not the entire school.
School Policy on Snow Days or Days the School Cannot Open:
The school will make every effort to inform parents in advance of weather or other conditions, such as electricity failure during cold days in the winter. If at all possible, parents will be called the evening before, but in some cases, it may not be possible to call until early on the morning of a Snow Day.
If the school is closed for Snow Days, instructors may not be able to make it to the school safely. Therefore, no students can come to school on Snow Days. Parents are therefore responsible for having a back-up child care plan. This is standard practice internationally and ensures student and instructor safety.
