Objectives:
Changchun American International School Summer Camp ESL program gives young international students an opportunity to learn English by incorporating hands-on learning activities in which students will be mastering content themes and practising English. All groups will be assigned a native English Speaker. Our goal at CAIS Summer Camp ESL program is to provide students with the best English-language educational environment in a “state of the art” facility.
The CAIS Summer Camp ESL program is designed to meet a wide range of needs of international students who need or wish to improve their academic and social skills while developing lifetime interests through thematic and specialty courses.
The staff of the CAIS Summer Camp ESL program is committed to assisting students in developing and refining their academic, social and personal character.
General Description:
The Changchun American International School Summer Camp ESL program will run from July 19th - August 13th, 2010
The camp will feature an 7.5 hour day from 8:30 AM until 4:00 PM.
During this time students will interact with English-speaking teachers as they study content themes and are involved in activities that promote active learning. There are four different themes that overlap each other.
Active Content：
Culture of foreign countries: Asthe globalization pace is quickening and with it, cultural integration, people benefit a lot from each other. So the most useful course of the action available is to study such integration as much as possible. Our school highlights cultural differences between the eastern world and western world. These are embodied in the following areas---ways of thinking, values, legal consciousness,and socialcapabilities.
Art & Drama: Changchun American International School organizes fairs, art exhibitions, films, dance, drama and other interactive activities which embody the aesthetic, and lead to an atmosphere of stimulation;
Sport: Our school often holds various umbrella games and activities including, baseball, races, soccer or basketball events. We have an outside swimming pool for students to use.
Art &Science: To hold activities of painting with the title of science fiction, to reflect scientific concepts through artistic images to organize soil testing activities to engage students’ attention, to create environment protection activities, to use and recycle resources.
Accommodation:
Changchun American International School Summer Camp provides a new, modern, well-equipped hotel only 10 minutes walking-distance from the school premises. There will be two students per room and 24-hour hotel monitors. Laundry service is also provided by the school. Home stay is available upon request.
Admission requirements:
The Changchun American International School Summer Camp activity is designed for students between the ages of 8-17 years old (birth date before July 2002). Each camp day is filled with 7.5 hours of intensive learning classes, in which students will be mastering content themes and practising English. The teacher/aide-student ratio is 1-to-10.
Weekend Transportation:
For that non-locals, school provides a bus on Saturdays from school to shopping centers leaving at 9:30 and returning at 15:30.
Tuition and Fees:
Camp tuition covers four weeks of thematic courses. School uniform, school buses, lunch and accommodation are charged separately.
Tuition Fee: RMB 3,200 for four weeks (optional);
RMB 1,800 for two weeks (optional);
RMB 1,000 for one week (optional);
School uniform Fee: RMB 100/per set;
School bus Fee: RMB 200 for four weeks (optional);
RMB 120 for two weeks (optional);
RMB 70 for one week (optional);
Lunch Fee: RMB 30/day (optional);
Accommodation Fee: RMB 90/day (including breakfast only, optional).
Deadline for registration is May 31, 2010.
Uniform requirements:
The school will provide uniforms on registration day. Please provide your child’s sizes on the Application Form. We require ALL students to wear Summer Camp uniform during instructional periods, field trips and most activities.

Students and Parents are encouraged to provide additional long-sleeve shirts, sweaters or jackets, jeans, rain coats and sport shoes for outside activities.
