CAIS Student Awarded Scholarship
CAIS DP2 student Olivia Braun has been awarded the Presidential Scholarship by the University of British Columbia, the 34th ranking university in the world. Olivia had not even applied for a scholarship to that university and they only award three undergraduate scholarships per year! Olivia has been awarded the scholarship even though she has not yet taken her final exams. She has been awarded the scholarship based on the Diploma Program work she has done and the school’s predicted grades for her. She has been a consistently hard working and conscientious student who has deserved this outcome. This is a demonstration of how welcome IB Diploma graduate students are to top ranked universities around the world. Everyone at CAIS congratulates Olivia for a job well done!
CAIS Teachers to Speak at International Conferences
Dr. David W. Deeds has been invited to present at the Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education (AACE) Global Learn 2010 Conference (http://www.aace.org/conf/glearn), to be held May 17-20 in Penang, Malaysia. His topic will be "Web 3.0: The 3D Internet Classroom." This marks the first time a CAIS teacher has been so honored, a true milestone for our school!
Dr. Lenn Arre will present at the International Conference of General Science Educators in Baguio City, Philippines, on July 22. His paper and topic title: "Lateral Thinking Skills." It's not often a small, new international school such as ours is represented twice in one year at such gatherings. Congratulations to both instructors!
